The holiday season is in full swing and the decorating has begun. Clients got a chance to try their hand at wreath making using foliage found around the grounds of Brantley Center. Everyone had a lot of fun decking the halls and getting into the holiday spirit.
At Brantley Center we like to incorporate different skills into our activities. Clients learned about current events happening with our native ‘Ohia trees (a material most widely used in Hawaiian wreath making) and the importance of conservation. While making the wreath, the clients exercised his or her fine motor skills by tediously picking through the leaves, flowers and berries and carefully placing them into the vine structure.
Most fun was had by all and the Center has never looked more festive. I think we’ve found our holiday tradition!
